A fantastic piece of Apple retail and New York City history, this black T-shirt was created for the 2011 grand opening of the Apple Store at Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan.
The front features a brilliantly location-specific “APPLE STORE, GRAND CENTRAL” graphic designed to resemble the classic split-flap departure boards historically associated with major train stations and transportation terminals. A small white Apple logo appears high on the back beneath the collar, keeping the rest of the design appropriately minimalist.
Even better, the interior neck marking identifies this example as Made in USA and size Large—a great period detail on an already difficult-to-find Apple Store collectible.

The Grand Central location wasn't simply another Apple Store.
When it opened in December 2011, Apple brought its retail concept inside one of New York City's most recognizable landmarks: Grand Central Terminal.
Rather than enclosing the store behind a conventional storefront, the location became integrated into the terminal's historic architecture, with Apple occupying prominent balcony space overlooking the famous Main Concourse.
That setting made Grand Central one of the most distinctive stores in Apple's retail network and gave opening-related merchandise a direct connection to both Apple history and New York City history.
THE GRAPHIC
The front design is arguably the best part of this shirt.
Instead of simply printing “Grand Central” beneath an Apple logo, the designers referenced the visual language of a railway terminal. APPLE STORE, appears across the upper row with GRAND CENTRAL directly beneath it, each character presented within dark rectangular tiles reminiscent of a traditional mechanical departure board.
