Originally drafted by the Florida Panthers in the 2nd round of the 2008 NHL Draft, the Swedish goaltender developed into a top-tier netminder over the years. After early stops with Florida and Vancouver, Markstrom truly established himself as an elite goaltender during his time with the Vancouver Canucks, where he became one of the league’s most reliable starters.

He later signed with the Calgary Flames, where he reached new heights in his career. During the 2021–22 season, Markstrom recorded 9 shutouts and was named an NHL All-Star, finishing as a Vezina Trophy finalist for the league’s top goaltender.
