Levi's Sportswear Safari Shirt Jacket Men's L 60s 70s Vintage Khaki Rare
PRODUCT DETAILS
Outstanding vintage Levi’s Sportswear safari / utility shirt jacket, believed to date from approximately the late 1960s to 1970s. Rather than locking it into the 1960s, I would market this as a 60s/70s-era piece, as the period styling and vintage Levi’s Sportswear label strongly support an early vintage origin, while the exact production year is difficult to establish from the surviving labeling alone.
Finished in classic khaki/tan, this is an unusual piece of Levi’s history that predates the modern interpretations of safari, military and workwear styling that have become staples of contemporary menswear.

TREASURE HUNTER’S NOTE
This is the kind of Levi’s piece that demonstrates just how broad the company’s historical catalog extended beyond its famous denim.
The combination of the Levi’s Sportswear label, oversized pointed collar, safari-style flap pockets, sleeve utility pocket, metal hardware and khaki workwear construction gives it a distinctly late-1960s/1970s look. It sits at the intersection of safari clothing, military-inspired utility wear and American workwear, all aesthetics that would become enormously influential in later menswear.
The label is particularly noteworthy. Instead of the familiar modern Levi’s branding, this carries the older Levi’s Sportswear presentation with its dark label and contrasting red lettering—a fantastic period detail and one of the features that immediately separates the shirt from later reproductions and contemporary Levi’s pieces.
Because an exact production year isn't established by the surviving tags, I would describe it as circa late 1960s–1970srather than definitively calling it 1960s. That still gives us the vintage keywords while keeping the listing accurate.
A genuinely uncommon piece for collectors of vintage Levi’s, 1960s/70s menswear, safari clothing, military-inspired fashion and heritage workwear.
