Marine Layer originally developed its Pacifica Stretch material for some of the brand's bestselling overshirts, combining the familiar feel of cotton twill with significantly more give and softness than conventional workwear fabric.
For the blazer, Marine Layer uses the 320 GSM version—the heaviest iteration of Pacifica Stretch. That additional weight gives the jacket enough body to hold a blazer silhouette while preserving the soft, relaxed character that makes the fabric so comfortable.
The 80% organic cotton / 20% polyester construction feels substantial without becoming rigid and is designed to move naturally with the wearer. Rather than needing months of wear to soften up, the fabric has a deliberately broken-in feel from day one.
